Hollywood Carnival was born out of a simple, powerful vision: to give the thriving Caribbean diaspora on the West Coast a place to unapologetically represent their roots, while uniting diverse cultures through the universal language of music and masquerade.
Inspired by the historic traditions of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, a group of dedicated cultural promoters launched the event to bring the authentic "trucks on the road" experience to Southern California. What started as a passionate community gathering quickly caught the attention of the entertainment capital of the world. After all, what better place to showcase jaw-dropping, theatrical costume designs than right down Hollywood Boulevard?

How It’s Going: A Global Star-Studded Celebration
Today, Hollywood Carnival has evolved into a massive multi-day cultural festival. It doesn't just attract locals; revelers fly in from across the globe, right alongside major Caribbean artists, actors, and musicians.
While the pandemic and logistical shifts have occasionally forced the organizers to pivot or pause—making every single dynamic comeback highly anticipated—the spirit of the festival has only grown stronger.
The main attraction remains the Parade of the Bands. Local and international Mas bands (like Epic Mas Band, Extacy Mas, and Mirage Mas) pump up the volume with towering music trucks blasting everything from heavy Soca and Dancehall to Reggae and Afrobeat. The parade culminates at the Culture Village, a bustling festival hub packed with live performances, visual arts, and vendor stalls serving up authentic Caribbean flavors like jerk chicken, double doubles, and meat patties.

• Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: The California June sun is no joke. Running behind a music truck on asphalt will drain you quickly, so keep water in your pack.
